This Card is not authorized' error

Sky HD, on  174 History channel I get 'This card is not authorized' error,  this is only on History 174, same on 274,  never had this before. All other channels seems OK.

 

I powered off, removed the card and powered back on after a while and then waiting to 'insert card' message, still same. Would this be because the card want's updating via landline, we don't have connected?

@Pentode viewing privileges are updated over the air rather than the phone connection so that wouldn't be the cause. You could try removing the Card and wiping it with a dry cloth, but if that doesn't resolve it, you'll need to give Sky a call, I'm afraid.

Hi  Mark39.

Thank you for reply, yes I've tried wiping the card, powering  up and waiting  for 'Insert your card' message. How long does it take for an over the air update, obviously it's not going to be quick I would imagine.

 

I have watched History channel before with no problem's, Guess I'll try again tomorrow if no joy I'll have to get on to them.. Thank you again, Dave.

Hi @Pentode it's usually quite quick actually.  I think Sky say up to 4 hours, but in my experience it's a lot quicker- a matter of minutes.

Right....! I am now getting sick and tired of this lark AND about to kick Sky through the window.

 

There is no one at all that can help me out at Sky TV.... too much automatum is the problem.  For the very last time IS THERE ANYONE at Sky I can get ORAL help with?

 

My card comes up as stated 'This card is not authorized', I get on to sky and told that the card is not recognized nor can they recognize the 'last three digits' I entered on the phone as requested...... attemped pairing doesn't help either.

 

Can someone on here kick their backsides?

@Pentode  If the steps provided by @Annie+UK  don't work then i'm afraid you'll need to persit with calling, not replying to the prompts may help you get through.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Not Very happy here.....

 

So an engineer came today and sorted the Sky +HD box in a jiffy,  simply inserted a new card did an update via  telephone line.....  and off he went? Sky signed me up for Sky Q sooooo I am not happy to say the least, my account shows Sky Q.

 

Trouble with Sky YOU JUST CANNOT TALK TO HUMANS - this is the root problem that angers people!

 

If the next bill differs one iota,  IT WILL NOT GET PAID, they will have to take me to court and sue..... I will happily agree and explain WHY I TOOK THIS DECISSION.

 

I could simply have done that..... but they wouldn't THEY thought it better fob me off with an unwanted upgrade!

If you had Sky+ Sky wouldn't have sent an engineer as Sky+ is no longer supported so you must have upgraded to Sky Q which the engineer will have installed. 

Sky signed me up for Sky Q sooooo I am not happy to say the least, my account shows Sky Q.

Very unwise. That will put you in breach of the T's and C's you agreed to. 

Doing that is going to cause you additional problems; services being restricted, late payment fees, you won't be able to contact Sky, Sky will involve a debt recovery company which may eventually affect your credit rating.

You could post a photo of the front of your Sky box to clear this up?

You can see your future bills in your Sky account or My Sky App.

 

As said by others, they would only install Sky Q if you agreed to it.

Don't need to post any pictures atr all..... watch my lips so to speak-
A black box that simple say's Sky HD on the front.... all the enginner did was to change the card and do an update - I could have done that!

 

The same ol set up, the same old box - working after abvout 10 Minutes! Skyu CLEARLY attempted to FOB ME OFF with an un-wanted UPGRADE!

 

Sky are now on notice..... sorted it out or no payment and I'm OUT AND I am not exactly a new member! To hell with em if they can't! I'll happily see them in court if need be.

 

Having no Human to sorts mess like this out is NO joke.... and you should all know why!
