A couple of,questions:

Is the power LED lit in each of the magic eyes?.

The magic eyes must be connected to a splitter. Is this a mains powered amplified splitter?

Yes bought a new splitter too and just the same. Tried the eyes in the rf2 at back of sky box and they work there. Has worked for years no problem and suddenly stopped with no change to settings😞

hi @Jp

It is a long time since I had magic eyes but IIRC they use  power from the SKY HD RF outputs.

Is there any chance the cables have been knocked or otherwise compromised causing a short bertween the central core wire & the outer sheathing or a break

Re: Sky magic eye issue

I dont think so. Sky is showing on all other tvs and the eyes are all lit just not able to use remote control. Would they still be showing if this had happened? I've tried everything / even swapping over with another sky box to no avail 😞

One thing you should be aware that a small short between the outer sheathing and core cable won't always prevent the RF signal getting through but would stop any power (usually causing the box to turn it off)

Re: Sky magic eye issue

Ok thanks. I'll try checking all the cables  as everything else has been checked/replaced  - it's so frustrating 🤪

As you've replaced the splitter and magic eyes and tested your Sky box, the cable connections are the most likely suspect - in particular, as none of the eyes are working correctly, the cable between your Sky box and splitter.

Unless the coax connections to the plugs are soldered, the thick inner wire to plug connection is prone to oxidation over time which can stop the control signal reaching your Sky box. I'd suggest removing the plugs, cutting back the cable by half an inch, and refitting them.
