Sky hd boxes due to stop working?

I hear sky HD boxes will stop working any time now to next year.  I have 2T box and 512gb box. U need to downgrade to 1Tb box and only get 1 main to record. Poor!

@kamhey1 just to confirm what @Annie+UK said. Sky+HD boxes won'r stop working (unless their hard disks fail, of course). It's the older nonHD boxes thay will cease to be able to receive SD broadcasts.

Re: Sky hd boxes due to stop working?

I rang sky was told no updates will be provided to the boxes or engineer to sent out for repairs. They stopped it since March. Is a fault occurs, they only upgrade to skyQ. I was told £50 for the 2TB main box and mini box. You can't get 2 main boxes. Also u can't transfer to new sky Q.

There have been no software updates for years so this is nothing out of the normal 🙂 You can still commission a 3rd party to do repairs but those who have Sky Protect Insurance will still be covered 🙂

What you have said here still does not mean that "Sky hd boxes due to stop working" is correct 😞

Re: Sky hd boxes due to stop working?

I was told the boxes could have a hard drive fault anytime or last a further 2 years, no one knows. Once that happens, its done. How do you save from the box, I have only 4% left on 2Tb box? Sky should be able to transfer all the data to the q boxes?

I was told, they changing the transponder signal, so eventually the box won't be able to pick up the channels. Could happen b4 Christmas.

Could be 2 days or 10 years. Nobody, including Sky knows.

No, recordings can't be copied to Sky Q. You can copy them in standard definition and in real time to a DVD recorder (edited to add for clarity: ..but not after the hard disk has failed. Once the disk fails, everything is lost.)

That affects Sky+ boxes, but not Sky+HD boxes.

Re: Sky hd boxes due to stop working?

Does that mean I carry on as normal? I have noticed the box says too many recordings l, must delete a recording to record another. I have 30% of the box left, plenty of space and yet this message. I have tried rebuilding thing, but still no luck?

Sounds like you'll need to perform a FSR to reclaim the missing disk space 😞

No, because recordings don't belong to the user: there's no right to transfer them and consequently no mechanism to do so.

Content previously purchased through Sky Store can be downloaded onto a Q box.
