Re: Sky catchup unusable

Was hoping to turn on this morning and everything be fixed but... no 😞

Hopefully we will get some sort of update today.

Re: Sky catchup unusable

Good morning everyone, I'm wondering if the fact that this thread has an 'Answered' logo on it may affect how Sky are dealing with the problem.  I pay a hefty subscription each month (as we all do)  and to be without the download facility for a few days does not sit well with me.  I've had no follow up to my email sent on Tuesday so I will ring Sky later to see what the latest position is.

@Patski

Definitely not. The Community thread, and the fact it currently has a post marked as the answer, has no bearing whatsoever on Skys work to get this resolved.

I'm hoping as enough people have got in touch, they will make it a priority problem. Keep us posted though if you do have a chat with them 🙂

On Demand is working, the issue seems to be with Talk Talks security feature on their router so I guess Sky have nothing to fix

The work-a-round is to either turn of the advanced security on the router or change your DNS sever

Maybe having a word with Talk Talk will get a resolution

Re: Sky catchup unusable

I don't have an app connected to my Talk Talk

I have a simple WiFi box that is plugged into the wall. It is a Fibre 35 if that helps. Do you know of a way I can change my security settings?

Re: Sky catchup unusable

Sorry for the double post.

I've just logged into my TalkTalk account online. The only two features that are on are Scam Protection and Virus Alerts. Will turning these off solve the problem do you think?

Far easier, in my opinion, to make the change on the Sky box, which, after all, is the only thing not working.

I get that but I just don't feel confident making that change. Some people have tried and made the situation worse. It's just a confidence thing on my part

Re: Sky catchup unusable

When I tried to change the DNS number to resolve the problem I discovered that all the numbers on the network screen, IP address Of Sky Box, Subnet, Gateway Router, and DNS are now missing.  There are only dashes instead of numbers.  Do we think that my Talk Talk router could have done that?

I was told by technical support, when I rang them yesterday, that they had been working on something the day before regarding a conflict.  Not sure how it can be the router because nothing has changed with the router.  All of our other broadband / network dependent devices are working perfectly without interruption.  It's something in the Sky Box that seems to have changed.

What numbers do I need to insert on each line to make the Sky Box work properly again?

Re: Sky catchup unusable

I think the least Sky can do at some point today is give an answer as to whether it is a fault with them, or we need to get in touch with TalkTalk. We are paying for a service so it is partly their responsibilty to search for the problem.

That's highly unlikely.  Sky+HD boxes haven't received an update in years.

Downloads have stopped working over past few days. Have tried various "fixes" but no change.

Network settings show as Connected to Router and On Demand.   Have rebooted Sky box and Router.  Network connection is definately OK as Netflix is working over same connection.   Also can't download films I have previously purchased.

Nothing tried so far has resolved the issue.

Re: Sky catchup unusable

Just for information, I have never used a Talk Talk supplied router, NETGEAR currently in use and I resolved by changing DNS on said router which doesn't have advanced security options

How do you expect them to resolve an issue that, seems to be, outside their control! 😞
