Sky box showing error message about problem with hard disc drive

Cant access recordings as Sky + box displaying an error message about a problem with the hard disc drive.

 

I have Sky +, but son has has SkyQ and he received same message today.  He fixed his by unplugging his and restarting it - but im not so lucky

 

Too much of a coincidence that we have same issue at same time, even though we have different packages and different boxes

Won't let me do a Planner Rebuild because of the issue with the hard disk

 

Tried unplugging and restarting - no good 🙁

Tried rebooting - no good ☹️

Reluctantly tried the hard reset (so many things recorded that were lost) - and still no good 😭

 

Told have to upgrade to Sky Q 🙄

 

Will be contacting Sky this week to organise it - so frustrating and disappointing

Sounds like the harddrive is dead, this happens to ALL drives eventually

@IH44 disappointing yes, but all hard disks fail eventually, I'm afraid. Yours must be at least 10 years old. If you really don't want to switch to Sky Q, an alternative might be to get someone to replace the hard disk for you?

Haven't had it that long - but thats not saying the box and the disk drive isn't older

Haven't had this box for ten years, but thats not to say the box - disk drive isn't older

 

Its not that i don't want to upgrade to Sky Q, its what i have myself, but this is for my mother and its going to take time teaching her all the new functions of a Q box as opposed to her old Sky + one

 

Few benefits for her will be that she will be able to get Netflix and Disney now, which she couldn't with the older sky+ system
