Have a letter sent asking if I would like to upgrade Sky Q at no extra cost but when I call the number on the letter the automated service does not understand!

As an aside, you may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

I would try to ring up the normal customer service and tell them about the letter, if you cant get through to them from the automated phone thing, say to it you are going to cancel, it should take you instantly to an advisor in the cancellation department, then when you say about the letter, they should transfer you to the TV department, from there, tell them about the letter and you should be able to get something sorted. On your old box, when you upgrade, you will not be able to transfer your recordings. Hope this helps!
