SKY+ to sky Q issues

Can you have a sky box (sky+) in one room but sky stream or q in another. We are multiroom, have 2 dishes. My dad had alzheimers, he lives with us and can still work sky+ interface, Our box has packed in but I am relucytant to change as I dont think he'll be able to work/learn the new interface. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can't mix the different platforms. It's either Sky+ or Sky Q or Stream.

Potentially he could retain use of a Sky+ HD box as a free to air satellite channel tuner after the household moves to Stream.  This is trickier (but not impossible) with Sky Q because it requires a non-standard LNB on the satellite dish.

It's not now possible to transfer a Sky viewing card into another Sky box acquired second hand.

Although, if you currrently have  2 separate dishes,  the LNB should not an issue to allow it to be used for FTA channels  - but note this would be view live only (as indicated by @TimmyBGood 's mention of tuner) , as record & playback also needs a subscription which cannot be mixed
