Rev8 sky remote won't operate Sky+HD box

Hi,

Can you please tell me why my Rev8 sky remote won't operate my Sky+HD box? It does operate my Samsung TV so I know that the remote is ok. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Tia @Annie+UK

Has it worked before? Have you restarted your Sky box by switching off at the plug for a minimum of 4 minutes?

Hi Mark,

I've only just sourced the sky+hd box as I wanted an hd box to receive the free channels like bbc hd using my satellite dish. My son's just pointed out the remote I've been given with the box is sky Digi rev8. Is it that the remote isn't compatible with the sky+hd box? I also have a sky+ rev8 remote -;will that be any good? Thanks

Does your original remote not work, if it is a Sky+SD remote?

You could try resetting the remote by taking the batteries out for a few minutes

Hi Annie my original box is remote is sky+ and it's remote is sky+ rev8. I've never had a sky+hd box before so am not sure if it needs a specific remote? The one I was given with it is rev8 sky digital. 

I googled instructions to pair it to my sky+hd box but the ones I followed ended up pairing it to the TV. Should I try to reset the remote now? If so how? Thanks

Sky+ and Sky+HD can be controlled by the same remote control

It should just work

Instruction from another forum I found:

1. Press "TV"
2. Press and hold "Select" and "Blue" together until red led in remote end flashes twice - if it doesn't flash twice then remote cannot be reprogrammed (clone or too old)
3. Press "1"- There are 4 different modes here 0, 1, 2, 3
4. Press "Select" - red led should flash twice
5. Press "Sky" and away you go

Does the Red LED on the remote and on the Sky+HD box light up when you press a button?

No. I think my sky+ remote is dying as the channel down button is unresponsive too. 

If the sky hd rev10 remote is compatible then I'll just buy it? Thanks for your help.
