Problem with wireless connector mini WPS

  • I'm having a problem with my TV connecting to Sky. My little WPS box (Mini wireless connector) isn't working. When I press the WPS button, nothing happens. The sky box is still recording a pre set programme but won't show on the TV. Can anybody help please? TIA

Your Sky box connects to your TV via a HDMI cable and has nothing to do with your wireless connector. So is your HDMI cable connected?

Re: Problem with wireless connector mini WPS

Hi 🙂 Yes, the HDMI is connected, I have tried another HDMI cable as well with no luck. I also tried connecting the HDMI cable to a DVD player and that was fine so it isn't the cable that is the problem. I've tried another remote control and I've also tried connecting an old sky box, still no luck. The TV screen is black and  says "no signal". I have set the sky box to record Wimbledon and I can see that it is still recording at the right times, so don't think it's the sky box either (it's the old sky box, not Sky Q). I did a chat with a virtual assistant last night, went through everything they said, still no luck, it then said we need an engineer which will cost me £65!!!!! Not happy that I have to pay that when I pay over £100 a month anyway 😞

There are several possibilities for the cause of a 'no signal' error (not the same as 'no satellite signal ':

1. Faulty HDMI cable (try a new one,to be sure it's not the cause)

2. HDMI cable not connected at either end

3. HDMI cable plugged into the wrong TV port or wrong HDMI input selected

4. Faulty HDMI port at the TV (try a different HDMI port)

5. No video, output from your Sky box

Sky charge for an engineer because you own the box. Your subscription covers only the services you receive. (There's no ca.lout charge for Sky Q as the equip, ent is loaned to you).

Re: Problem with wireless connector mini WPS

Thank you for all your suggestions. We have actually solved the problem 🙂 We turned the TV off and back on at the wall .... something so simple caused so many headaches. I can't believe it was something so simple, but we didn't think about doing that as terrestial TV was still working on our TV, just not SKY. Anyway, all sorted, but thanks again for your help
