@James497

So basically Sky+, being a legacy package, is no longer supported by Sky.

You can't pair a viewing card to any other Sky+ / Sky+HD box that it wasn't paired to at the end of October 2024. This has been asked on here and discussed many times since this policy came into effect.

You can still call Sky to discuss your options which will be upgrading to Sky Q or moving to Glass / Steam to continue to view Sky content through a Sky subscription.

Can you use the card that was in the box which I bought?  Assume not as it's not linked to my subscription?

No. That would also be against the T's and C's anyway (card can only be used at the account address).

There shouldn't have been a card in the box as cards belong to Sky.

Unfortunately, you've bought nothing more than a Freesat receiver. Maybe you could try and get a refund if it was sold to you as a workable Sky Box.
