Do you only have a Sky SD box registered against your account?
If so, you need to register a Sky HD or Sky+ HD box against your account🤔
It is poor Sky do not clarify what actions must be taken prevent closure of account🙁

Sky will advise to subscribe to Sky Q or Sky Stream services🤔
They will not inform you of the Sky HD or Sky+ HD option😔

All Sky SD channels are ceasing transmission on August 31st, so Sky subscribers which Sky records indicate have only SD boxes are now getting that message (because Sky doesn't want to be collecting a subscription fee under those circumstances)

"(because Sky doesn't want to be collecting a subscription fee under those circumstances)" are you sure because on that link it carries on to say
"If you don't cancel you'll still be charged for your subscription, but you'll only have access to a limited number of channels."

Sky don't want to charge for SD channels you cannot access, you still get charged for the channels you CAN access.

Some SD channels will be available up until August 31st, which is presumably why Sky is generating on screen notification of its intention to force-close accounts in August.
From 10 June, you'll start to losing access to all Sky channels, with all Sky channels closing for SD boxes on 31 August.
The wording of the text on that web page appears to cover the interim period between now and the end of August.
If you don't cancel you'll still be charged for your subscription, but you'll only have access to a limited number of channels.

I am really confused now because of what the original poster put I take it all SD only box accounts are closing at the end of august now then?

When you phoned Sky the autobot gave you the option of receiving a TXT ... you should have said NO😉
It was only giving you the chance to chat with other customers🤔

@TimmyBGood so I am really confused so how do you read this part of the website? "If you don't cancel you'll still be charged for your subscription, but you'll only have access to a limited number of channels." so do you think all SD box only accounts will automatically close at the end of august?

Sky want subscribers to transfer to Sky Q or Sky Stream😉
This a good way to achieve that desire ... there is no need on their part to tell you of the altenative of obtaining a second-hand Sky+ HD box😉
Sky are also introducing more services dependent on streaming. Sky+ HD boxes do not support streaming ... as a result of the move to streaming some Sky+ HD complain that they should have access to those services😂

Quite simply the subscription includes channels that won't be able to watched on the older SD boxes when they change transmission format.
SKY are being up front about the impact of changes they are making
The number of channels that will be available to watch on the older SD only boxes after SKY have migrated their SD channels is less .
I suspect SKY won't switch off / cancel these subscriptions in the short term - after all some customers may be happy paying for a limited number of channels that will still be watchable e.g. Gold & Alibi who, as yet, have not announced changes to transmission of their SD channels
