Help with downloading

Hi.  Went away for 3 weeks and despite having series links set to record came home to find that they had all failed. And also I was unable to download anything. Programs already on planner were fine.
After doing a planner rebuild I am still in need of help !
I can download programs now but I MUST have sky box switched on and MUST be watching any channel.
I have a smart tv and if I listen to Spotify ( for example ) download in progress fails.
If I turn off tv - but not sky box obviously - download in progress fails. 

Hoping someone can help !!
