HDMI Intermittent connection any sky box hot

HDMI connection from box to tv intermittently drops out and tv reverts to freeview.

The box lid directly above the hdmi socket is very hot .

The box i have is an old Sky+HD

If I move or touch the hdmi plug that feeds the box, the fault occurs immediately

Is the box on the way out ?

This is normal. Have you tried pointing a fan at the box to see if overheating is the issue

Please Note: Sky+ is now a legacy/obsolete service that Sky are replacing with their newer services: Sky Glass, and/or Sky Stream.

Satellite TV is on its last legs and is being replaced due to the lack of any new satellites being launched to replace the existing ones that are at the end of their service
