Faulty NEW Sky plus HD remote

I purchased a new remote yesterday from SKY, it very speedily arrived this morning, my delight soon turned to exasperation..........................................................................

FIRSTLY my LG tv did not appear as a make of tv on the included instructions, so how could I possibly set up the new remote with my tv without the 4 digit code?

Amazingly I tried the new remote and it seemed to work my tv without the set up, everything seems to work the tv BUT the volume control does not work!!!

Now what?
