It's a legacy product now only sold in very specific circumstances. Sky Q and Sky Glass/Stream are the current products.

Sky+ HD hardware ceased manufacture in 2015 to make way for Sky Q production (launched early 2016).  Sky stopped offering new subscriptions on Sky+ several years ago (except for use as @Mark39 describes in buildings served by a Q-incompatible distribution system) and Sky+ HD hardware will never output in UHD or host apps.

 

Worth noting that at eight years old Q itself is now a mature product, and Sky marketing is pushing the streaming-only products Glass & Stream rather harder than Q.

 

Satellite television faces a crunch point in a few years time anyway as the cluster of satellites serving the UK is due to reach the end of its expected operational life: there are no current published plans to replace them.  Sky has recently renewed its carriage deal with the satellite owners through to the end of 2028.
