Wifi doesnt reach my sky stream but is fine on mormal apps not using the sky stream puck

I had my fibre broadband fitted yesterday.  If I use my tv as before I can use all the apps, if I go through the puck I can't view any of them,  if I plug an ethernet cable in then it's ok. What can use instead of running a cable through my house. I don't understand how it's good enough for my tv but not for the puck.

Does sound like your puck is getting some kind of interference that is affecting your wifi.

Having a good local network broadband reach is key to running Sky Stream reliably.
As you have noticed, not just broadband speed to your house and router, but for your local network supply via wifi.

Best way to test is via a network speed test on your Puck.
Launch Netflix on your pucks (you do not need to be logged into it, if you do not use netflix) and scroll down the left menu to Get help.
Choose Check Network.
Would suggest running the test a few times, over say a half hour period during the tests.
What is your speed for the puck?

It may be suffering from interference, the puck much like a Sky Q box can for some customers suffer from this at times. More often seen as an intermittent blip.
Not always a cure, but the following may help to resolve;
Make sure you have a good 6-8 inches free on all sides of the puck.
Do not stack the puck on top of any other device.
Best not to sit it on a glass shelf. Wood is generally the best.
Make sure the puck is in the open, not tucked away in a cabinet or sat directly behind the TV.
Make sure you have no other devices that can cause interference closeby, like cordless phones, radiators, baby monitors, smart meter in home displays, microwaves and the like.
You should be using the Sky supplied hdmi cable or a high speed equivalent one.

Plus, change your puck to following recommended settings set in Settings>
Set Network standby mode to ON and Overnight power saving to OFF.

Turn wifi OFF under Network if connected via an ethernet cable.

A possible alternative, if you cannot sort out your local network wifi to the puck,  is to use a set of powerline Ethernet adapters.

Sky Stream pucks are unfortunately more susceptible to WiFi interference than most other streaming devices. They also require a faster and more stable connection than most other streaming devices, including your TV.

Your TV stores apps on its internal memory whereas SkyOS, which runs on your Stream puck, stores all its apps on Sky's servers. If your connection to Sky's servers is not fast and stable enough then you will have problems with the service.

This is why it's easier for your TV to use the apps because they don't require a constant WiFi connection. They only use your WiFi when they're streaming content from the apps. The TV's operating system and all the apps are on the TV itself, not on a server.

@Angela168 not all broadband equipment is equal, so e.g. the strength of WiFi distribution can differ between makes and models of hub.  Then people will complain that Sky broadband is rubbish compared to Virgin, BT, EE etc. but the router and hubs are different.

Similarly, some devices are able to receive a WiFi signal better than other devices. Some devices can only recieve 2.4 GHz signals, others can recieve that and 5 GHz and still others 6 GHz..

So key for you is to improve the signal to the puck. Sky maybe able to supply WiFi extender. Another option is to try a pair of powerline plugs  with an ethernet to the puck such as these
