Why is playlist STILL not got for purpose?
Sky has told us that streaming is the future, so why is playlist barely usable nearly four years after launch?
Example. On Thursday I playlisted the PGA golf highlights. This morning when I wanted to watch Day 3 highlights, my playlist shows, in order
Day 1 from Valhalla in 2024 (Highlighted)
Then in the rail below
Day 4 from Quail Hollow 2025
Day 4 from Valhalla 2024
Day 1 from Aronimink this year
Day 2 from 2024
Day 2 from 2026
Day 3 from 2024
Day 3 from 2026 - This should be the highlighted episode, as it's the latest and the one anyone would sensible want to watch today!
It's just as bad with cricket. No doubt when the T20 blast starts I'll be pulling out what's left of my hair!
How hard can it be to simply list programmes in reverse chronological order?
I've reported this nonsense to customer relations many times, and even offered to be a home tester, but they appear to not give a flying fig.
And even worse, having watched the highlights and selected Sky Sports Golf to watch the live final round, then pressed 'watch from start' the stupid box crashes, showing the 'Please wait for your programme to load/ There is a technical issue with this channel' error message.
Just pathetic

Because the future hasn't happened yet?
Unfortunately it's always possible that there's actually no good solution, but rights owners simply aren't prepared to continue letting distribution platforms have their content if it's going to be retained indefinitely on local hard drives.

Not that it makes it any better but it's actually nearly 5 years, not 4, since Sky launched EntertainmentOS (now renamed SkyOS) which brought the introduction of their playlists. October 2021 was the launch month...

This can't be anything to do with rights. It's a simple development issue to list programmes with the most recent first!

Your best bet to get this checked by Sky and passed onto the relevant production playout team at Sky is to send an email to the Sky Viewer relations team to report it;
ViewerR@sky.uk
They do respond to emails with any updates for your queries or problems.

Not having local hard drive recording is a rights thing. Display order is likely to be a combination of data tagging, database structure and user interface programming: managing Sports assets in particular is going to be a distinctly non-trivial task.

Re: Why is playlist STILL not got for purpose?
Yep. The football playlist is a joke too. You have to go scrolling through the random order to find the latest game.
it used to work. It also used to best into super Sunday, Monday nights etc but that also seems to have gone.
it's been broken for a long time.

Re: Why is playlist STILL not got for purpose?
There's no argument that Playlist & Continue Watching is the achilles heal of the Sky OS system and with no record facility it is fundamental in the user experience.
Whatever the arguments for it, rights, server based apps, third party disciplines etc etc. Sky need to get the functionality stable and user friendly to use.
Alongside WiFi and connectivity on start up these two items are the most discussed here and I'd not be surprised if not the main reasons why customers leave or opt to return to Q if possible.
Sky really need to throw everything at getting this right after all they are now selling Sky as a one stop shop for content, well customers need to easily track and clear what they watch. After all, 'All you need is Sky' 🤔
