Swapping from Sky Stream to Sky Q
I used to have Sky Q but cancelled a few years ago. I decided to come back to Sky but could only sign up to Sky Stream. It's ok, but I really struggle with it. It times out all the time, you can't keep it on without it going on standby. I tried to watch Darts last night but because you cannot record, I tried to watch from the start and fast forward the adverts but it froze when I got near the end and it restart and was stuck on fast forward so I had to come off it and couldn't go back to the beginning again. Little niggles like this annoy me when I pay such a lot for it. It just feels like a glorified firestick at this point.
Does anybody know if I would be able to switch from Stream to SkyQ? I am over the cooling off period unfortunately. Just hoping there is something I can do.

It wouldn't be a 'switch': you'd need to argue under consumer rights regulation that Stream isn't as described / of adequate quality / fit for purpose in order to cancel outside the cooling off period, and then order Q.
Anecdotally it does appear from other forum posts that Sky will eventually accept such a challenge about Stream: important to understand that Q is approaching its end of life though.

Well, yes: inherently Stream is closer to that than it is a broadcast receiver, which is inevitable given the fundamental technology shift.

Sky could've designed the Puck and Glass TV with a large memory buffer🤔
The Now TV smart box with DTT tuner could buffer 30 mins of broadcast TV, so Sky had the experience of using in device recording rather cloud recording of broadcast TV😉

Quite a difference between that and a thousand hours though.

Re: Swapping from Sky Stream to Sky Q
26/10. Swapping to Sky puck from VM (saving £30 which was the big attraction), I set up two pucks I have to say suprisingly easily. A good start I thought. Playing around to find find fault as I have 10 days left of my cooling off period, my main views at the moment are:
1. It is plugged into my VM router, will my internet be ok via Openreach?
2. If not, given that my internet wont be plugged in until the end of my cooling off period, will I be able to get out of my contract?
3. The reviews elsewhere appear to be universally bad! Something like 3% five star 75+% one star. 😱 IS it REALLY that bad? Should I have read them first?
4. Havent swapped the netflix over so Im a bit wary of "adverts". Are they intrusive?
5. I will test the pause button but is this a problem?
6. Is fast forward a problem?
7. There isnt a"page down" function scrolling down the channels but I havent used the voice so maybe thats for me to play with.
8. Sky cinema is annoyingly front and centre- I dont use it.
9. I noticed lip synch was off during a film, then it wasnt, is this an issue?
10. My wife felt there was a difference in colour?? I shall do a test v VM.
11. Setting up profiles was easy enough but this is really instead of the record facility. Am I going to miss that?
Still playing with it so any answers/suggestions greatly appreciated!
