Stream boxes do not record, they add whatever you select to a playlist and that is then played back on a stream from Sky or one of the integrated apps.
Is this "downstairs box" a Stream puck and where are you trying to play the "recording" ?

Go to Settings>Systems Management>Resets & Updates
Select Restart device
Your Sky Stream puck will perform a reboot. It will take a few minutes to complete.
For Sky Stream the recommended minimum broadband speed is 25Mbps.
Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD.
A good way to test, is doing a few netflix app speed tests on your pucks over say a fifteen minute period.
Launch Netflix on your pucks (you do not need to be logged into it, if you do not use netflix) and scroll down the left menu to Get help.
Choose Check Network.

on the say tv its attatched too but it just wont play
