Stream basic questions
Been thinking of moving for a while, but circumstances have now changed and I cannot afford what we have. Currently on q with 1 mini box and basic package costing me £76 per month. I don't even think haggling will get it under £50 which is unaffordable for what I'm getting. Did a quick check online and can get stream with ultimate pack and Netflix with no ads for £30 even before I ring and try and haggle. I have full fibre from plusnet 145/30 which currently works very well. I'm just concerned about the amount of issues that people seem to be having with stream. Surely it cannot be that bad or sky would have withdrawn it. It's making me seriously consider just cancelling the lot and using my roku boxes for streaming TV only.
What is the consensus on stream in reality??

The consensus is highly likely to be that there are thousands and thousands of households who are perfectly happy with it.
It can be a bit of a marmite product though, depending on what you are expecting it to achieve. If you have little or no experience of other streaming devices and services then it might be quite astonishingly good to you. If you have used other devices to stream content then you might find it sluggish and a bit advertising-heavy and clunky.
The fact of the matter is that Sky Stream can and does work very well for a great many people, but (and it's a big but) it can require more troubleshooting from the customer in order to get it functioning well.
The Stream pucks are simple client devices, not high-tech streaming devices, with most of the OS and all apps hosted on a server. They therefore rely entirely on you providing a fast and stable broadband connection in order for the service to function. If you can do this then you may have a fabulous Sky Stream experience, along with the many others who do.
If you have issues with your broadband, or a bandwidth heavy household with many connected devices, thick walls, fluctuating speeds, etc then you may have a miserable experience.
The reality is that you really need to try out Sky Stream in your own household to know if it'll work for you.
Be aware too that if you want to have Sky in more than one room as you do with Q and your minibox at the moment, you'll need to factor in the additional cost of the Whole Home subscription. If you want the ability to skip adverts on some content then you'll need to add the ad-skipping subcription. UHD & Atmos cost extra too, as do the higher ad-free tiers of Netflix, HBO Max and Disney+.
Do your sums before committing - costs can quickly add up with a Sky Stream subscription, and make sure that all the channels you like on Q are available on Stream because not all of them are.
Sky will still offer deals on Sky Q if you decide that Stream isn't for you, but do some sums and give it a go - it might surprise you.
Personally I tried it and hated it, but there are plenty others who will tell you the opposite so you really need to decide for yourself.
