Stream Deals

I called Sky to ask about the cost to upgrade from Sky Q to Sky Stream and was told you could only get discount if you were a new customer.
I have been with Sky for over 13 years and find it disappointing that they are not willing to offer the same deal that new customers get.

Has anyone that's an existing customer been successful in obtaining a discount on upgrading to Stream. Thanks

All my opinions are my own.

Re: Stream Deals

Did you get a new customer deal when you changed from Sky+ to Sky Q?

Times have changed. Back in November I was offered a cheaper package to switch to Sky Stream than Sky Q from my Sky + HD setup.

Perhaps Sky don't see the need to incentivise current Sky q customers to move to the streaming platform at the moment.

Note it's not an "upgrade" it's moving to a completely different platform that is the long term future of Sky so will be an inevitability for a number of customers before the end of the decade in most likelihood.

Re: Stream Deals

Similar position but have just used it to my advantage.

Transferred from Q (year left on contract) at £105 a month to 1 month rolling stream at £142 a month.

Once activated, notice will be given.

The upfront cost of £39.95 and a extra £37 for one month is worth taking the hit to get out 11 months early.

I'd observe that was a loophole when Stream was first released, but isn't supposed to be possible any more.

Re: Stream Deals

For my own piece of mind I repeated the question several times to ensure Q contract period isnt added on.

I will just refer to the call if any issues in a months time.

24 month contract was a tenner cheaper.

Re: Stream Deals

@TimmyBGood It appears you are right.

Order cancelled this morning.

Apparently all Q to Stream orders are subject to manual review.

Just waiting for refund.

I am welcome to order the 24 month option when the cancellation drops off over night or log a complaint.

Just dont think its worth the effort.

@Ben1980

I thought that might be the case: a few forum posters announced they had got out of Q minimum terms by ordering Stream on a rolling contract back when it was first released as a standalone product in October 2022, and Sky fairly rapidly cracked down on the loophole.

Re: Stream Deals

Yeah I can remember seeing those comments.

Was I looking to take advantage yes but I can also see what Sky have done.

My only real frustration is I have had it confirmed by at least half a dozen agents that it was possible. Another case of not believing what they say.
