Strange error from my5 app vjs-2999 error on sky stream

Just recently the my5 app has been giving a vjs-2999 error.  Appears this is due to an add blocker on my network provided by my router. Turning this off allowed my5 to stream video correctly. No issue outstanding just posting here in case anyone.has a similar issue.

Re: Strange error from my5 app vjs-2999 error on sky stream

I have been getting an issue with the my5 app. I watch a program on the app, and then during one of the ad breaks I get a black screen and it doesn't work for a few days, sometimes a week, then I can start watching again.

Today I get the message VJS-2999

This has been going on for months

@SJK1981   If you don't have an ad blocker, try going to Settings then System management then Restart, after it restarts and has returned you to the Home Screen go back to System management and select App refresh and again wait for it to return you to the Home Screen and see if that sorts it.

As the OP of this thread states.

This error has come up a number of times on here and is mainly due to some kind of ad blocker or VPN on your local network or mesh system.

C5 themselves have reported the same for this error.

You will either need to turn the ad blocker or VPN off or exempt the Sky Stream boxes from them.

Also, try a restart of your broadband router, leaving it off power for half hour or more, so it resets its WAN ip address.

You can try a Sky Stream apps refresh, but  it its not known to cure this error;

  1. Press Home on your Sky remote, then highlight Settings.
  2. Press System management, then Resets and updates, and finally Refresh apps.
  3. You'll see a message that says, 'Your apps are being refreshed'.
  4. Press Dismiss to return to normal viewing.
    An apps refresh can take up to 24 hours to complete.

Same error on one of my stream pucks and a possible solution suggested by eero customer support that seems to be working atm.
I posted it to the Sky-Q forum thread on the same topic, as a google search threw that up first.
