Slow stream

Why is it that since having sky stream instead of Q is there a significant delay on Live tv?

I have several neighbours for example watching football matches on "dodgy fire sticks" who I can hear cheering goals and then around 30 seconds later I get to see what they are cheering about. Have sky the stream team pretty much created there own fire sticks with the puck and it's not actually as quick (live) as a dodgy fire stick? There also much cheaper too.

So serious question, why is sky stream so delayed on live sports to the point where a dodgy fire stick streams faster?

Have a read of this Sky community news article.

For sports you can use live sync, it reduces the broadcast delay by approximately 22 seconds, ensuring you receive a more up-to-date broadcast.

Hi @DeborahBoulter

This is the nature of IPTV vs broadcast technology. There is a significant amount of extra processing needed to deliver broadcasts over the internet. As per @lettice response live sync and reduce this on some broadcasts but this will never be the same as broadcast technology.
