Sky stream remote

the buttons on my remote have started doing strange things volume brings up the menu the back button muteds it I've tried to re pair it and nothing happens

Try resetting the remote, firstly press and hold 4 & 6 for around 10 seconds, then press and hold 7 & 9 for around 10 seconds. 

Then attempt to pair by pressing and holding 1 & 3 until the message appears on screen.

I had the same problem a few days ago and phoned Sky.  The remote was not connecting and they sent out a new remote.
