Sky Stream pucks require both a fast, and more importantly, stable broadband connection in order to function.
Due to the service being self-installed, it relies on the customer providing such a connection. If your broadband is with Sky then you can of course work with them to troubleshoot any connection issues you're having. If your broadband comes from another provider then it's up to you to communicate with them and Sky in order to get your service functioning.
To help you out initially, it's helpful knowing who your ISP is, what your connection speed is, and how your puck is connected to the network, WiFi or ethernet.
You'll get the best chance of a more stable service if you can connect the puck to your router via ethernet cable and turn wi-fi off in the network settings.
