Sky stream constantly fails

Our sky stream has regularly said 'technical fault - please try again later'. 

tried calling sky but only resolution they say is to have a booster (in the year 2025?!) 

or to go back to sky Q (more money and they won't give me an 'exit fee' until after I commit to exit current contract. 

any suggestions on what I should do?

There should be no exit fee when switching back from Stream to Q. 

The issue will be that in order to get you back on Q they have to terminate your Sky Stream contract immediately so you will be without service until the Q installation can take place, which, at this time of year, may be some time. 

If, on the other hand, you still have all your Q equipment, a Sky Q subscription can be turned on almost immediately.
