Sky Stream pucks not recognising remote

A couple of weeks ago I was watching TV on our puck when a message came up saying something like "unable to pair your remote, please try again". I tried to re pair the remote, changed the batteries, but nothing would work - tried to pair the remote to our other puck and it paired no problem.

I decided to give up on the first puck and swapped it for the one from our spare room which paired to the remote with no problem until today, when I got exactly the same message, and am unable to pair a remote to it.

I now have 3 remotes which will all pair to the 1 working puck, and 2 pucks which won't pair to any remote.

All I can think is that the Bluetooth modules in the pucks have failed, which is annoying because they're both December '21 units which are well out of warranty.

Does anyone have any ideas?

@ilikewatchingtv sounds quite unlikely thst bluetooth would fail on 2 pucks given fsilure is not a known issue. Far more likely is something in your room is blocking or causing interference with the signal. Bluetooth like all wireless technology can be affected by interference which can be caused by other wireless kit using the same 2.4GHz band or things like a faulty microwave etc. Think about equipment you have near the puck and try moving anything thst may interfere away few feet away. Also think if the signal is being blocked by anything made of metal.

Re: Sky Stream pucks not recognising remote

I had considered something blocking the signal. But the problem persists in different rooms in the house, even with the remote right next to the puck.

I can set up all three pucks in the same place, in the same room, and can pair all 3 remotes to the working puck, but can't pair any of the 3 remotes to the 2 pucks which have failed.

Re: Sky Stream pucks not recognising remote

Well I finally seem to have got somewhere with this.

I had another play with the first puck which failed a couple of weeks ago - same results, couldn't get it to pair with any of my remotes.

I opened up the puck, removed the large metal heatsink, powered up the bare circuit board, and straight away was able to pair a remote with it - now I've reassembled it all and it's working perfectly.
