Sky Stream Playlist Live: The Rugby Championship

Added the The Rugby Championship AUS v ARG to playlist last night (start time 5.05am). Planned on watching with my father in-law at more gentlemanly hour. Today, find that it had only recorded the first half.

Same thing last weekend. I anticipated a problem as the schedule showed the game split across two slots, but added both to playlist. Second one has not recorded in the cloud.

Raised with Sky today, told that sports events are only sporadic on playlist. Lot of money to only be given a chance that the event will be available.

Perhaps Sky should change the wording on their advertising from:

Recordings. Only better.

SkyOS gives you your own personal playlist to save all your favourites from Sky and other apps. Ready for whenever you are.

to something like:

Recordings. Only sporadic.

SkyOS gives you your own personal playlist to randomly save some of your favourites from Sky and other apps. Ready for whenever you are. Fingers crossed.

It does seem to be certain sports that suffer most. It's strange that it's still so random four years after the service launched. A lot of customers seem to have less or no trouble with the more popular sports like F1 and big football matches - they seem to 'cloud record' more reliably these days.

It would be better if Sky offered a proper cloud DVR service (at extra cost obviously) so that customers had the option of having a truly personal cloud drive that they could save content to. One that had much more of a planner type feel where you could set recordings from the EPG (like you did for the rugby) and have it properly save both sections to play back and delete when you please.

It could be like a new premiere tier of SkyOS where the customer gets 500Gb of cloud storage to save EPG recordings. It could have ad-skipping bundled with it and UHD/Atmos too. I'm sure many customers would take up the offer and would be happy to pay an additional £10-15pm for it. Those that don't want to pay extra would stick with the current playlist model.

I moved from Q because I got a good deal on a Glass for our second TV.

What I don't understand is why it simply isn't on demand given that they repeat it on broadcast later in the day.
