Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Everything else in my house works fine , including using sky go via a pc or football via a fire stick. Netflix streams fine on multiple devices as does YouTube and Disney and Amazon prime

kids able to play online games without issue on pc ps4 ps5 and I phones

I work from home using teams and email etc without issue

we have 500fibre internet and Orbi mesh routers and satalite

the Netflix speed test on the puck is 200+ mb

there is nothing wrong with anything in my house other than the puck

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I have been having this problem - screen juddering etc. on 401/922 - not so much on TNT Ultimate - and have invested an extra £4 monthly in sky max hub and WiFi booster, with zero improvement

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

@2muchTV  - £28 in total for 6 months subscription to Sky Sports is a bargain! I was paying more than that monthly to Sky.

apologies if my description wasn't clear in my original posting.

Sky insisted I talk to their tech team before agreeing to cancel but when I explained about the volume of customers complaining on the Sky help forum and the fact NOWTV works on the same network without a hitch, they agreed to cancel the service. I told them the feed is just unwatchable and I shouldn't be paying for it.

I would certainly recommend trying NOWTV as an alternative to maintaining the woefully poor performance from the Sky Puck.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

If it was the broadband, then we would have issues with other gadgets, which I don't. The issue as most us know, is the puck. Sky need to simply update the puck and hand over new ones to the many who are suffering

We are trying to be paitent and hoping that eventually Sky realise that its the sole responsibility for them to fix and admit the fault

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

The issue could be in Sky's content distribution servers which will be distributed around the country and connected to the various ISPs which then deliver the stream through their network to your puck.  If some of these servers are overloaded that will cause problems with Sky's service in those areas. This would explain why people in some areas have no problem, but people elsewhere do. It would also explain why, in the day, when less people are watching the service is okay.  Your broadband could have plenty of capacity, but if the Sky server is overloaded you could still see problems.  There is likely also a problem that the puck doesn't handle a poor quality stream well.

Setting audio to passthrough seems to be working for me so far. Thank you for the tip on that.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I'd agree with the above but does everyone have a very slow system menu as well when UHD live events are on. Like it is struggling system wise.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Yes. On UHD the puck grinds to a halt.

The whole set up is still a mess. Sunday football not where it should be on playlists either. Have to find it on the on this week tab. One game started fine then I try to forward at half time which led to a restart of the whole programme.

Second game tried to start from the beginning. Instead it went to live, well into the game with score visible.

At this stage of it's evolution it is a horrible product.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I've been having the same issue - 1Gbs fibre, gigabit lan cable from router direct to the puck and UHD is awful, lagging, stuttering on 401, audio issues on 922. Xbox and TV are also wired in and have no speed issues (TNT Sport UHD via the app on my LG TV is totally smooth).

I've tried swapping upgrading the HDMI cable to a certified 8k one and that didn't help. Very annoyed to be paying extra for this - never had any issues with Sky Q UHD (other than no UHD on the minibox).

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Yesterday's darts is basically unwatchable. This really is a steaming pile, and the lack of answers from Sky is utterly unacceptable.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I don't think it's a coincidence that these issues only happen during peak times, coinciding with the free UHD offers in September. I've also noticed sky recommending HD channels over UHD, I assume to manage the load.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Why can't Sky just provide a fully functional app for other products. Zero requirement to use their pucks instead of an underperforming product. Or even allow UHD on the app for Apple TV.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Very much agree @GrandJames  Sky really need to be doing some urgent work and hopefully reading these messages and other ones to understand that there are issues with the puck. Also we need to hear more from them to explain why the issues have not been fixed and what they plan on doing. If you go into a shop etc with a faulty product, they will explain what they have done to fix the fault and what was the problem e.g. mobile

After all we are the paying public and we deserve better. We not getting value for money
