Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

I have had this issue for months now. Hoped it would be fixed by start of new season but today Liverpool Arsenal game was worst yet. I have high speed internet but it's just Slow and stuttering picture. It's a shame cause when it works the picture quality and sound are excellent and worth the money. But no point continuing to pay for it until Sky have a fix.

Watching Liverpool v Arsenal and the quality on UHD is unwatchable.  Stutters awfully. Just watched the F1 with some issues as well.

calling Sky on this tomorrow. Why should we pay.

I watched the F1 live on Sky Sports F1 UHD and the Arsenal v Liverpool game  live on Sky Soorts Main event UHD and just been watching the first 35 mins of the Aston Villa v Crystal Palace game on SkySports Main event UHD

Saw no issues watching, saw no stuttering on  any of those in HDR and the football in Dolby Atmos.

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

This issue seems to be getting progressively worse. Watching cricket on ME UHD & stuttering every few seconds. Almost unwatchable. Happened on every live football game this season too.

i have rock solid fast broadband & had no such issues before. Hopefully resolved soon.

@Bazlowski Exactly the same issues and had to restart the puck. It's been going on far too long. Sky need to do more to sort the issue and add I told them, stream has been out long enough for these issues to be sorted.

Stream is great and an upgrade

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

I'm a recent user of Sky Stream, had it for just over a month

I have Sky Sports and UHD Dolby Atmos add on

I get some issues with Dolby Atmos content dropping out for a couple of seconds when watching on demand programmes

The issue is made worse when watching live sport in UHD, it's actually frozen the screen and booted me off a couple of times

Having read through some of the threads I decided to put my a sound setting in passthrough Rather than Auto this has helped with the stuttering picture during live sports and I'm getting less drop out with dolby atmos

I'm using a JBL Soundbar to passthrough the Atmos

I managed to watch two out of the 3 live football broadcasts yesterday with no stuttering at all, I experienced some issues during the City v United match

As a test as soon as I put the sound back to auto the stuttering picture makes it almost unwatchable

I'm going to experiment with Dolby Digital+ as the only downside of having the sound on passthrough is that I experience a couple of seconds delay in the sound coming through when selecting channels

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

I don't know if this helps anybody else but for me it resolved the issue on all 3x TV's in the house.

Under settings / picture and sound - set to passthrough. Mine was previously set to Dolby Digital Plus.

As I understand Dolby Digital Plus will have the puck decode audio / Dolby Atmos and Passthrough will leave the external device to decode.

It seems at least in my case this was a puck performance issue of having to decode both the UHD and Dolby Atmos causing intermittent stuttering. Passing audio decoding to either my Sonos soundbar or Denon Amp depending on the room has resolved this.

Hope this works for others!

@Wadded has the Atmos audio dropouts on Pass-Through been resolved yet ?

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

@Nigelb1972 - I haven't noticed any drop outs as yet, but could be early days as I'm only 1 week in with this particular setup.

There's a transition during ads, but that's the same with DD+ or Passthrough.

I'll keep you posted. 👍🏼

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

@Wadded there used to be a major issue with audio drops on Pass-Through which is why I asked. It was reported heavily on here but Sky couldn't seem to replicate the issue.

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

I have just tried that and it seems to make a difference so far. Picture is perfect for the first 10 mins of second half of Arsenal City game (it was stuttering before half time) and the sound on my Sonos soundbar seems better. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

@David07 - fingers crossed. I also found the sound felt a lot fuller in passthrough as well!

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

I just tried Pass-Through while watching Tulsa King on Paramount+ Premium and got an instant dropout. This is via an eArc connection, so the issue is still there.

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

Worked perfectly for the game. Picture and sound really good and what you would expect with paying for UHD + atmos etc. BUT...when I turned off the match and went back to the sky stream UI I heard a small buzzing noise that brought me back to first problem I had with Sky stream which is when you select pass through a noise I come through the speakers.  After lots of calls to Sky and some advice on here the fix for that was selecting the other sound options on the puck! So looks like I am going around in circles 😞

No, it is still happening. This has gone on for such a long time I'm beginning to think they don't know or can't fix it.

Re: Sky Sports UHD Picture Stuttering and Poor Volume

@Nigelb1972 - just tried identically from here letting Tulsa King play for 10 mins with not a single dropout. Are the dropouts you're experiencing intermittent or consistent where you then have to switch channels / apps / sources to fix?

I'm not personally familiar with the issue, but perhaps seems confined to specific equipment/settings?

fwiw I'm using LG OLED TV's throughout my home with sky stream puks connected via HDMI direct to TV (kitchen and spare room) or Denon Amp (lounge). Either Sonos Arc  / Beam Gen 2 or Denon amp is then connected and enabled via earc/audio out with Passthrough enabled in both audio settings on TV and Sky Stream audio settings.

I'm seeing Dolby Atmos via Sky Sports UHD or Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio decoding via Tulsa King and Paramount+ app.

I'll keep a listen but so far no audio dropouts for me personally I'm afraid.
