Sky Sports F1 Skipping
I've seen some 'resolved' threads on here but clearly this issue is not resolved.
Moved from 13 years as a VM customer and whilst the first F1 race or two were 'okay' the previous 2 I have watched from playlist with frequent skipping. At one point today the show ended and just went back to the start (twice) as if the recording had ended.
I saw some comments says that people were waiting for the 2025 season to see the fix. Its clear to me this isn't fixed and I won't pay for this substandard service.
What's everyone else's view?
My sky stream puck is connected via Ethernet to the router.

Re: Sky Sports F1 Skipping
Hi @BolSky4 welcome to the community.
Am I right that you were watching a cloud recording of the race via your playlist after the race had finished? Was there any rhythm or rhyme about when it happened that you noticed?

Re: Sky Sports F1 Skipping
Yes watching from the cloud based playlist.
No rhythm no.
It's never done it during any other session than the race. Tends to happen in chunks. Maybe 3/4 times in a couple of mins and then nothing for 20 mins.
Yesterday though at lap 40 it went back to the start and said it had finished. When I attempted to FF to the a same point it finished again. Third time it worked.
When I first selected the programme from playlist it also said it also lagged saying it was waiting for it to load and then it announced a technical issue.

Probably related to server congestion. These 'cloud recordings' of live sport events are not individual files, unique to each customer. They are a tagged portion of a broadcast stream which everyone who has playlisted that event can then access afterwards. If lots of people are trying to watch that file at the same time, all at different points, fast forwarding, rewinding, pausing at different times, that's a lot of processing for the server to deal with. The glitching you describe is symptomatic of that.

Re: Sky Sports F1 Skipping
Does your explanation make sense when the same bits of data/video are skipped when rewatched?
Either way, I'm surprised how poor this system is.

To be honest I wouldn't really expect that previous suggestion to be fully accurate because these files will be heavily cached and distributed through the same CDN as other Sky content, so I'd be surprised if cloud recordings suffered from an issue as described.
It sounds like there might be a problem with the recording itself, and if that's the case you might be better off emailing ViewerR@sky.uk - that's the viewer relations team and they may be able to look into what happened.

I've no idea. I was frustrated by the glitching on Stream and Glass too, so much so that I cancelled.
I put the instability down to the CDN (Content Delivery Network) just not being robust enough to deal with the server load when lots of people are trying to access the same content.

Re: Sky Sports F1 Skipping
Thanks both.
Looks like a shared fustration.
I will email and see what comes of it.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a pretty seamless service so I'm quite disappointed.
