Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi
I've bought a second Sky Stream Remote from Amazon. I'll be using it to control a Panasonic Soundbar/TV. I've setup the first Sky Stream Remote, during the Sky Puck Setup, all is working well.
To setup a second Sky Stream Remote, do I press 4 and 6 together, to setup the Sky Stream Remote via IR? I would have done this previously with Sky Q.
I'm aware the first Sky Stream Remote will have been setup via Bluetooth, and that you can't have both Sky Stream Remotes via Bluetooth.
I'm also aware that setting up a second Sky Stream Remote via IR, means I won't have access to Voice Control.
Thanks in Advance
Barry 🙂

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi @Barry+Mc+Kelvey I would just do the following on your new remote:
Press 7 and 9 together to make sure nothing is stored in the remote (This resets/clears the remote)
Press 4 and 6 together for three seconds (IR mode) and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you want your new remote to be the one working with bluetooth then press 1 and 3 together for three seconds and your old remote will revert to the IR one.
I have my normal Stream remote as bluetooth and an old Sky Q remote as the IR spare remote.

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi @Fothergill1
Thanks for your response. If I do the following on my second Sky Stream Remote:
Press 7 and 9 together to make sure nothing is stored in the remote (This resets/clears the remote)
Press 4 and 6 together for three seconds (IR mode) and follow the on-screen instructions.
Can I set up the second Sky Stream Remote to control both my Panasonic soundbar and TV via IR?
Thanks in Advance

Hi @Barry+Mc+Kelvey Assuming your original remote controls your TV & soundbar then yes your new one in IR mode should also work.
In my case I have 2 Stream remotes (1 bluetooth & 1 IR) and both can turn my Samsung TV on/off and control the volume on my Samsung Soundbar. My Sky Q remote that I use as a spare will not do so (it used to but this stopped after an update about 18 months ago but now only controls the stream puck).
Good luck.

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi @Fothergill1
I've followed your advice:
Press 7 and 9 together to make sure nothing is stored in the remote (This resets/clears the remote)
Press 4 and 6 together for three seconds (IR mode) and follow the on-screen instructions.
After pressing 4 and 6 for three seconds (IR mode) I dont get any on-screen instructions.
The Second Sky Stream Remote does everything except, turn the TV Off/On, turn the volume up/down.
I can navigate the Sky Stream interface etc, turn the Sky Stream Puck Off/On.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in Advance
Barry 🙂

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
@Barry+Mc+Kelvey Hi Barry, as you are still having issues I unpaired both my remotes and did a little experimentation. Like you I now find that when pairing into IR mode it will not setup the controlling of the TV but I have found a way around it (probably what I did nearly 3 years ago but had forgotten).
Just for reference lets call your original remote number 1 and your new remote number 2 (the one you want in IR mode). This is going to sound a little counter intuitive but don't worry.
Take remote 2 and pair it in bluetooth mode (using 1 and 3 buttons) and then continue to set it up to control your TV volume etc.
Once it is all working correctly go to remote 1 and again pair it as bluetooth as you did above with remote 2. Also now set it to control volume etc on your TV.
As you can only have one remote working in bluetooth remote 2 will have automatically defaulted to IR mode but will still control your TV. The only thing it won't do is give you access to voice command.
This is what just worked for me, so good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi @Fothergill1
I've followed your advise. Both Sky Stream Remotes now control the volume for my Panasonic Soundbar and TV. The only thin neither of them do is, switch the Soundbar/TV off. I still need to use the Panasonic Remote to do that 😞
Thanks
Barry 🙂

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
@Barry+Mc+Kelvey I assume you are aware that you have to "long" press the power button on the Stream remote (about 2 seconds). A short press only turns off the puck and not the TV.

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi @Fothergill1
@Yes I'm aware of that. It's what I do with other Panasonic TV's around the house.
Prior to using both Sky Stream Remotes, I could turn the Panasonic Soundbar/TV On/Off with a long press.
Now that both Sky Stream Remotes are setup, the long press function no longer works.
Thanks
Barry 🙂

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
@Barry+Mc+Kelvey I don't know what else to suggest as following the steps I provided above has both of my remotes working 100% correctly.
Just a thought, when I setup my TV/Soundbar I only used the option to setup TV in connected devices I did not use "Control a Speaker system" as my soundbar is controlled through my TV and not the puck. Other than that unfortunately I have no other suggestions.
I'm not sure if it is relevant to your situation but the this link from 18 months ago might be of interest.

Re: Setup Second Sky Stream Remote
Hi
I reset both Sky Stream Remotes, then set them up to just control the Panasonic TV. Everything works as it should, except switching the Panasonic TV Off/On.
I'll have a look at the link thanks 🙂
Thanks
