Remote voice control no longer works.

I became a Sky TV customer in January and was delighted to discover the voice contol button on the remote.   For the first 3 weeks it worked perfectly.

However during the last week it displays my spoken word perfectly, BUT then displays, "That didn't work", or, "You appeared to have lost your internet connection", or, "You released the talk button too soon." ( Remote and puck are 8 feet apart in clear sight of one another.)

So I took to the internet and gathered up all advice and applied most of it. Here is what I have done.

 

1) Checked the batteries ( Manufactured 03-2025, expiry date 03-2032, Duracell, supplied with the remote), with my Battery Tester , all OK.

(Remote works perfectly in all modes except voice control.)

2)Disengaged and then "Paired" the remote with my TV and checked that they were paired by allowing the sound controls/on/off of my TV to be operated by the Sky remote, all OK.

 

3) Then tried to check "Privacy Setting", using ,  HOME,  SETTINGS,  Privacy (and this is where it all went wrong,  I cannot find"Privacy" option in the settings.)

 

Can  anyone give me a clue please?

Hi @NoviceJohn Although it hasn't happened to me in months, when the voice control on my  Stream Puck stops working I find a simple reboot has always got it working again.

 

If you haven't done it before go to Settings > System management > resets & updates > restart device.  It takes a couple of minutes to reboot and you will have a blank screen for a while.

Hi Fothgill 1,

                         Very many thanks.

It worked well.  Google must  have the wrong instructions, regarding the "settings" route.

I'll ask my questions directly to the Sky Community, rather than Google's AI in future.

Hi @NoviceJohn Really glad it worked out for you.  As a general rule a reboot is the first thing I do when I notice a problem developing.
