Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
Exactly my feelings. Happily, we've switched back to Sky Q after 18 months of cursing loudly at Sky Glass. Unfortunately, Sky's satellites will be retiring around 2029-2030, so we'll be forced to use their streaming service. Fingers crossed that Sky will have improved it by then, allowing users to download and keep programmes.

It's not as simple as 'download and keep'. The world of streaming is very different to broadcasting and the content producers now want to retain control of their programmes in order to make money and survive. Sky simply cannot afford to purchase the indefinite rights to every single programme they show. If a customer really wants to keep a programme then you'll need to pay for it individually and download a copy, if the owner of that programme allows it. You will not be able to do it as part of a Sky subscription.
As time goes on and the PVR generation dies out, the younger generation, raised on streaming on demand, will not be asking for a personal storage archive in order to 'download and keep' content.

Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
Hi @Kentish+Rake You mention that you are stuck with the Sky Glass for the next 2 years so presumably you have not had it for very long. If you have had it for less than the 31 days cooling off period you can cancel the contract and revert to Sky Q without any problems.
If you are out of the cooling off period I would call Sky and state your case for returning to Sky Q (miss sold, not advised etc etc). I have read of many subscribers on this community forum being allowed to revert to Q or even cancel entirely midway through their contract.
Good luck.

Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
It's not even wanting to download and keep. When we had Sky Glass, we found that a lot of 'terrestrial channel' programmes were only available at the time of broadcast. For example, Channel 4's Goggle Box. If you don't watch it live and try to watch it an hour or two later it's not available. That's just dumb. The same goes for many films after their live broadcast is finished, you can then only watch them on one of the pay-per-view options. Annoying!

@BeeM001 did you read the reply to your previous post? It will help you understand how streaming works - different perhaps from how you consumed TV in the past. There's no 'download and keep' function with Glass or Stream.

Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
Thanks for this reply. The hard part about that is that it will cost me more per month to have a Sky Q subscription package that Sky Glass. That is what convinced me. I rang Sky to find a way to bring my montly bill down and they told me switching to Glass would do it. I'm disappointed with whole experience.

Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
Yes. As I already said, I know how streaming works as I suffered 18 months with Sky Glass before ditching it.

Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
Did your monthly bills go up when you returned to Q—or did you try something else?

Re: Recording on Sky glass or stream
Sky never mentioned this once in the on-phone sales pitch. I stayed with Sky for a long time, but this sort of bait-and-switch tactic has me looking for other solutions.
