Re: Sky sport golf interference

Why is it, every time I want to watch something special sky tv pixelates continually?

Fed up with continually rebooting and missing the important bits!

But what do sky care, they have your money.

@Lager_Lindsay-   Obviously not a big fan of Sky then!!!  Are you basing your accusation on previous problems with Sky?

Are you absolutely definitely sure it is a Sky fault and not your Wi-Fi set up?

@Lager_Lindsay- There was certainly a major issue with pixelation a few months ago but this was resolved by Sky and I have not had a single instance of it since.

Have a look at your local environment to see if there is any interference.  Also, maybe your  Wi-Fi is sufficient for HD but is struggling to cope with UHD sport which requires more bandwidth (a minimum of 30mbps assuming nothing else is using up bandwidth).

It's certainly worth checking the speed being received at your puck (not router) by using the Netflix > get help > check your network option.

EDIT - I have just seen some other threads complaining about pixelation on Sky Sport so it would appear to be a broadcast issue.

I will mention it on the closed forum so Sky are aware.

Forthergill1

it appears my contract speed is 18.38 Mbps so this could be the issue?

However, it only causes a problem with live broadcasts as all other sky stations this morning are fine. I live in the countryside and have Gigaclear broadband with no interference from local environment.

How do I attain 30 Mbps ?

Thanks for your input.

Re: Sky sport golf interference

Correct, issues with sky in the past.

 I have been through this before where sky blames my broadband supplier (Gigaclear) and Gigaclear blames sky!

How do I decipher which is to take responsibility?

Hi @Lager_Lindsay-  There appeared to be a bit of an issue yesterday with other subscribers reporting pixelation on Sky Sport so this could be part of your problem.  Generally is you are not able to subscribe to a faster broadband service all I can think of is to not watch in UHD (if indeed you are).  One person commented yesterday that the pixelation improved when they changed from the UHD chanel to HD (channels 401 rather than 901).  Are you able to try connecting your puck via Ethernet as this would probably give a more stable signal?

The minimum speeds recommended by Sky are

HD = 25mbps

UHD = 30mbps

HD + 1 puck = 30mbps

UHD + 1 puck = 35mbps

These speeds assume you have no other devices using up your bandwidth.

I noticed your other post about Sky and your BB supplier blaming each other which is unfortunately the usual scenario.  Without being able to determine the cause of your issue it is difficult to know who is to blame.  As already identified your BB speed is borderline (at best).

Re: Sky sport golf interference

You'll probably better off with a Now subscription. The speed you are getting will give you issues as the Puck needs a strong stable signal. If you watch Now via the TV's app, (if you have a smart TV), or via a Firestick, Roku or Apple TV device, this will give you a far more stable picture.

@Lager_Lindsay-   Like you I live deep in the countryside but B4RN (not a spelling mistake) is available where I am and we get very high speeds, I wonder if that is available where you are?
