So I have propable now spent over 10 hours on calls over thelast 2 months with the helpline, spread over around dozen calls, still no further forward. Our TV in the lounge is around 6 meters from the sofa. It is not possible to activate and wake the puck up without standing up and getting nearer the TV. Once the light comes on, sit down and use remote perfectly well until next time.
I thought it was just a problem in the lounge but have now tested the other 2 rooms, and, indeed the same. I have had new remotes, this didnt help.
So, its quite apparent, the remotes just wont turn on the puck unless they are close, then they work. Its almost like they rely on blutooth to initiate and then use infrared. However, the voice control works perfectly fine ??
Hope someone can help

This was an issue earlier on in the year. It was to do with firmware not updating on the remote. See: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Stream/Sky-Stream-Remote-won-t-turn-on-any-of-my-pucks/m-p/4550247
Try following these steps (which was marked as the resolution in that thread):
1. Pair your remote control to your puck (by pressing 1 and 3 for 5 seconds).
2. Once you've seen that the pairing has been successful, switch the puck off at the wall socket.
3. Plug the puck back in and leave it switched on for a minimum 15 minutes.
4. Switch the puck off at the wall socket for a second time.
5. Power the puck back on and continue to use the service, allowing the puck to go into standby as usual overnight

I am afraid that I have gone through this process before, several times, and, now tried it again. I have even tried it with other remotes including a brand new one. There appears to be no option other than to switch on prior to sitting down. Not great technology and something that I have lost the strength to continue fighting for. As Autumn approaches I will look at alternative solutions and at worse change to another system, shame as I have been with Sky 20 years
