Programs not loading

When I try to play a program or movie on sky or one of the apps through Sky, it says please wait for hour program to load and then there is a technical fault.

For weeks before this, the picture and sound kept cutting.

I have already tried resetting the apps through settings and also unplugging the box for 30 seconds and plugging it back in again.

Do you have Sky Q? Or Stream?

Sounds like your broadband connection isn't up to the job. Have you tested the speed your Stream puck is actually receiving? To do this, open the Netflix app, navigate to the get help menu by clicking on your profile avatar top left, then run a network check. 

What speed is reported?

You need 25Mbps at an absolute minimum, constantly, to run Sky Stream with any hope of reliability. The pucks are sensitive to speed fluctuations and interference so you need to provide as good a connection as possible or it simply won't function well.
