Premier Sports

Why can't I see Premier Sports on my TV Guide now I've "upgraded" to the Puck from Q? How do I record shows on Premier without this?

@OzinUK  Premier Sports is not on the TV Guide as they have chosen not to be, you can only access it through their app on Sky Glass/Stream.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Premier Sports

Thanks. And yet on Q, where I was two days ago, there Premier Sports was, in my TV Guide. I don't understand the degradation of function with my upgrade.

Fundamentally, because the satellite platform and the streaming platform operate completely differently. The streaming platform is a closed system, so every broadcaster that wants to be carried on it, whether via an app or an EPG listing, needs to come to a commercial agreement with Sky, whereas broadcasting via satellite is a more open platform and can be done by any broadcaster, provided they get the necessary licenses.

It's not an "upgrade" moving between the 2 different platforms, as they are fundamentally different; some things will be better on the streaming platform, and other things will be better on the satellite platform. However the streaming platform is very much the future with the current satellietes providing the satellite service going end of life at the end of the decade.

Super comprehensive reply, thanks very much. At my age, I still learn good stuff almost daily.

No problem.

And it also doesn't help when Sky reps call it an "upgrade" to existing customers on Sky + or Q really either as it means those customers are expecting all the same features of Q, along with some new ones but that just isn't the case based on how dramatically different the platforms are.
