Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

After doing more research, I have switched to channel 922 and this has sorted my lip sync out and the audio is a lot better, I had to turn the soundbar down. Everything working great for now!

Louder audio doesn't necessarily mean better. Just google 'loudness war'. That's a whole other topic though for us nerdy audiophiles 😁
Anyway that is interesting. Is that a common theme then with those with the lip sync issues that it's mainly on UHD / Dolby atmos content. My ageing kuro plasma just a regular HD display so I don't have the UHD subscription enabled nor is my AV receiver Atmos capable.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Hi @Paul+Dray No its not just UHD the lip sync issues happen with all Sky formats and any channels as evidenced in this chat history, also I've seen very recent new customers have reported these issues its insane that Sky are still selling this faulty product.

I've tried to cancel my subscription unfortunaltey I signed up for 24 months (18 still to go) and they won't let me out, Sky keep saying it will be fixed. I'm now using my Amazon fire stick more often than Sky Stream but I still have to use Sky for live TV and sports.

I would also mention that I and many customers have other issues with Stream, reported on other discussions, with screen freeze/blank screen/re-booting/watch from start.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

yep.  Almost totally using AppleTV apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITV X , Netflix etc.

It's appalling they are not already refunding/reducing subscription.

Hi @BC1956 Your correct that there have been lip sync issues for a considerable time but I would mention that the initial problem was actually resolved by Sky but it came back again in an update (can't remember the number) a few months ago and Sky are struggling to find a solution.

On a personal level it doesn't worry me too much as I don't get the problem very often and it is quick to get things back in sync. However, I appreciate I am lucky as many people have a more serious problem than I do so let's hope we don't need to wait much longer for the problem to be resolved.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

You can't cancel via the app / website, but you should be able to cancel with 31 days notice and no termination fees even when on a 24 month contract. You must ring and speak to cancellations. This is not true for Q but is true (as I've done it) for Stream with pucks.

I did actually say is it 'mainly on UHD / Dolby atmos content'. I've been on this thread from the beginning so have seen all comments. Also I assume what you mean but 'all Sky formats' is any audio or video format provided on the Sky Stream service.

What TV and audio system you using out of interest?

I presume you've experimented by taking the soundbar out of the equation and test lip sync just through the TV built in speakers? Obviously that's not an answer just a test to try out.

  • I don't have anything other than a Puck and a bog standard TV and still have the issue on live Sky.

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

It is now mid February and despite your assurance that updates have been implemented to cure the problems with LipSync and pixelation, I have not noticed any improvement.

Please advise whether there are any further planned "Improvements" or is this as good as it gets?

Re: Lip Sync issues - Sky Stream

Just adding my voice to this as well. When on Samsung TV, Samsung Bar and using Dolby sound settings the lip sync is well out (really noticeable) using the passthrough solves it but I'm not getting the sound experience I'm paying for.

Would rather not cancel...but this is yet another issue on top of others on this platform that I'm getting and it's all adding up to not worth it.

@Bikergaz Sky need to be doing way more to help us as customers and stop increasing prices until the product is better
