Is it possible to start Sky Stream puck without using the remote?

I'd like everything to turn on with a single voice command, but my Sky Stream puck seems to be the only holdout.

The Sony TV, the Xbox, the lights, even my christmas tree, can all be controlled with voice commands. But not the puck.

I understand the Sky Stream puck doesn't directly work with Google (or any assistant for that matter) - I can't imagine why not, but it is what it is.

Is there a simple setup I'm overlooking that would turn on the puck without having to pick up the remote every time?

e.g. Turning on my TV will turn on my sound system through HDMI CEC, is there a way to set up the puck to turn on at the same time?

Possible, yes, ideal no! Connect the Stream device to an IoT plug. It would mean a boot up from scratch though, rather than coming out of standby, so a lengthy procedure and one you quite righty won't want.

I use a Logitech Harmony Hub with Alexa. I've set it up with the app so that when I say "Alexa, turn on Sky" it turns on the TV, the Surround Sound and the Sky Stream puck.  I bought the hub (which emits IR signals to all the devices) a good few years ago but you should still be able to get one from eBay or the like.

Bit late to the party here.

Logitech has discontinued their mighty hub/remote products, and it will slowly get worse as they wont update as time goes by.

So I started to look at other products, which I have purchased, so I'll share with people here.

Sofabaton X1S does the same as Harmony, not quite the polished remote, but easy to programme, does IR, BT, RF controls of devices. You can also add activities to turn on TV, SKY, AMP etc. Its not cheap, but does work. Plus there is an integration for Home Assistant if people use that with the likes of Nodered. You can then command devices via Alexa, Home Assistant/Nodred to do anything via voice thats available to send as a code to a hub device.

The other thing that Ive bought and may now be superflous is something from a company called Linknlink. They are on amazon and direct via their websites. They have created a hub that is specifically able to learn and build remote command sets to add to Home Assistant and control the devices via that. Their hub is very a very small device and does IR only. But it can control Sky Stream pucks, TV,s etc. Apple TV 4K is a challenge as you have to learn remotes into Apple. Ive also ordered the linknlink hub with a remote (Not available on Amazon), so yet to see how that works. Glad Ive not told the missus about all this expense....

Re: Is it possible to start Sky Stream puck without using the remote?

I haven't tried this myself (I might)

Can the sky puck be plugged into your Xbox via hdmi and then you setup the Xbox to turn it on, I know the Xbox can control media devices in this manner.

That could be a cost free solution for you

Otherwise I use home assistant and a broad link rm4 pro (maybe rm4)

I have all the buttons learned, even the ones that seemingly don't work.

I used it for power on/off, pausing and I send the coloured dots remote command every so often to stop the puck going into standby

It all depends on what existing smart home stuff you have

If you have any smart life stuff I think they do it blasters too
