Re: HBO Max black screen
If you mean upgrading to HBO Standard, yes, through the link posted on here - if you mean to an HBO Black Screen, I'm afraid I can't help

Re: HBO Max is Now Included in Most TV Packages!
It's a bit of a con.
The on demand features and box sets that were part of Sky now have ads unless you pay extra for them.
The boast that these platforms are added free is not true. It's a different service.
I already have Disney and Netflix separate to my Sky account and looking at this now, probably better to cancel Sky and then have a separate HBO max higher tier subscription.

Re: HBO Max is Now Included in Most TV Packages!
I'm using Sky Stream and no HBO Max shows are appearing on my Continue watching rail on the Sky Homepage.
The shows I'm watching appear in the HBO Max app Continue watching section, but these are not feed onto the Sky homepage. This happens if either I am mid way through a show, or the next episode is ready.
I've restarted the puck, refreshed the apps, rebooted the puck by holding down the power button and going through the setup but still no change.

hi @Simonw44
As you may see, I have moved your post onto the SKY Stream specific discussion.
I am sorry I can't give any answers regarding programmes showing in the CW section - hopefully others here can give more info

If you go to settings on HBOMax on the puck and then to "Privacy & Legal" there is an option to manage data sharing with Sky. I don't know if that will trigger what you want but HBO shows and ones to continue are showing on my homepage.

As explained before in these threads many times, HBO's multi-year contract with Sky, to carry those programmes on the Sky Atlantic channel exclusively, came to an end. That's why Sky Atlantic miraculously got added to Virgin Media the day after the exclusive deal ended.
HBO then hold all the cards and decide where to offer their content. They decided to launch their HBO Max app in the UK. This was not Sky's doing. What Sky managed was a deal to get Sky customers access to a new special "basic" tier, which doesn't have HDR, 4K or Atmos audio, and has unskippable ads. It's obviously worse than before, of course, but that contract came to an end. Something which is no longer on the table cannot be offered.
I do not have a sig other than this message. SkyQ.
Enjoying HDR with 4k Blu-Ray, Amazon, YouTube and gaming since 2016.

And, as I'm sure I've mentioned a few times in this thread, neither Sky or HBO is now the same company which agreed that contract in the first place: following the Warners - Discovery merger more recent HBO management in particular have been vocal in disparaging it specifically because it delayed the release of Max in Sky territories.

Hi
not sure if anyone else is having this issue but everytime I go to try and use my subscription it says on the HBO Max bit it's not available in my area. Has anyone else had this?
thanks

Where is that 'area'?
Complications have been noted with the Channel Islands.
There's also apparently an issue where an email address has been associated with a Max account in another country.
Also a router or device VPN is likely to mess things up.

They have also being running noticeable HBO content on more than Atlantic for several years - Showcase , Comedy, Documentaries , Mix/Pick aswell as Syfy since it became a Sky channel in January 2020
It's also pretty clear they have rights to new seasons for HBO Original series that were part of their old output deal
Can't really say I am suprised 77% of HBO Max 1.5m "activations" so far are from Sky/Now, old content only goes so far

Yes, you've said they were upset about it. But I take a different view. To those in HBO management who didn't like what was done in the past which they can't change, I say tough! Instead of focussing on them looking to the past gnashing their teeth, I would like to focus on giving high praise for those former Sky negotiators for giving us, Sky's paying customers, such a really good deal, for so long. We were on the winning side all that time. Let's not have too much sympathy for the losing side, for the previous situation which is in the past anyway!
