Dolby Atmos inclusion

We currently have a Sky Q contract that expires in just over a month from now. If I understand correctly Sky only broadcast a small amount of their own content in Dolby Atmos e.g. live sports etc. If we watch Netflix through the Q box the audio is not Dolby Atmos.

If we watch Netflix from the Samsung TV directly then Atmos is provided.

We are going to cancel our Sky account at the end of the current term, and are considering either Now TV (that is owned by Sky) or Sky Stream instead. Both have the option to include UHD and Atmos in their services.

Can anyone confirm whether Atmos audio will be presented by both services, or whether Sky Stream will only have it on their own Sky progammes?

Any experience of the performance difference between Now and Stream would also be welcome.

I've had Q, Stream and now use NOW for getting Sky content.
In my experience I found the greatest flexibility and reliability for getting Dolby Atmos from various apps and Sky content was by using my own Apple TV 4K and Firestick 4K Max hardware.
I personally found the Stream puck hardware to be too unreliable and the SkyOS to be too controlled by Sky.
NOW TV with Ultra Boost gives the same UHD HLG HDR with Atmos content that you can get via Sky Stream.

Re: Dolby Atmos inclusion

Thanks Angel_Aka,

We have two TVs, the main one being a 55" 2024 Samsung OLED in the lounge and a 43" 2022 LG set in the bedroom.

My initial thinking was to subscribe to Now with Ultra Boost to avail of Dolby Atmos downstairs, we have a Sonos Arc Ultra there and are considering buying two Era 100SL rear speakers to go with that. The Samsung has Now built in so presumably we would not require a Firestick or similar for that, and we would use the Samsung remote to control that.

I have been given a Roku 4K stick with remote that would be connected to the LG tv as it doesn't have Now built in?

Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. The great thing about Ultra Boost is that it gives UHD/Atmos on up to three devices, sort of like Whole Home/Multiscreen on a Sky subscription, but without any additional charge.
