Delay changing channels

There is a black screen delay of 3 secs when changing sky channels.  The netflix  app connection  speed test gives 389mbps. is this delay normal?

Re: Delay changing channels

There is a delay because it has to pick up and buffer the stream for the new channel. It's not going to be almost instant like Sky Q etc

As @Nigelb1972 indicates, the historic satellite platforms have the advantage that data for every possible live channel is falling on the dish all the time, and so changing channel can be very rapid.
