Re: Continuous AV Sync Issues

Sky have acknowledged (in a private message) this is a known issue and it is being actively worked on to find a solution.

Re: Continuous AV Sync Issues

Well that's more than I got. All I got was basically fobbed off with it must be your TV/HDMI cable/Soundbar. No, no and no.

There is 100% a deficiency in the Sky Stream hardware and software. It's not fit for purpose.

Re: Continuous AV Sync Issues

I recieved my Puck last week as a new Sky Customer, think I will cancel as it is utter garbage!

We have spent hours configuring it in different ways, only to change channel and the lip sync is off again!

If this isn't resolved within the 14 days cooling off,  they can cancel my entire package.

Trying to get through to anyone on the phone is a nightmare.

@jcmacx Sky's cooling off period is 31 days not thecstatutory 14 days. Lines do get busy and the bot will try to divert you to an online resource or to this forum do not accept those optionsxstay on the line.

oddly having had Sky Stream since launch I rarely get lip sync issues and when I do its down to the broadcaster. However not disputing you have an issue.

@jcmacx

I have had two Sky Streeam pucks for over two years now.

Apart from some issues with GB News themselves broadcasting poorly and reported on here a good year or more back, I have not had any other lip sync issues.

I have swapped over and replaced TVs in that time too and all have behaved with the Sky Stream puck.

May just be a case of trying again different Sky puck audio options and making sure you have no kind of audio setting on your TV or soundbar set incorrectly.

HDMI into the tv with no soundbar and getting the issue.

What's the audio output on the puck's Audio settings? If you're not using a soundbar try using PCM Stereo. That's least likely to give any lip sync issues.

Re: Continuous AV Sync Issues

Will try again as you suggest.... the frustrating part seems to be the variation in consistency between channels/apps. ie get the settings right then a different channel or even a few hours on the same and it drifts back.

Yes, I'm afraid that's what I experienced with Sky Stream too. Lip sync would vary between apps and live channel streams and nothing would keep them all in sync without fully rebooting the puck after watching something on an app. I tried using passthrough and DD+ as the audio output setting because I wanted Atmos, but it was never consistent.

If you're only needing Stereo then PCM may sort your issue. Good luck.

Did you find a permanent fix?

Yes. I got rid of the Stream puck and now use NOWTV on an Apple TV 4K box. It's worked perfectly, with no lip sync issues on any app. A lot cheaper too.

Did this answer not help you?

Re: Continuous AV Sync Issues

The puck is trash, as is the tech sky use to stream their own content. That is why the lip sync issue occurs. Try watching the opening scene of Under Salt Marsh in UHD/HDR when they are in the playground - it's a good test and it's miles off.
