This effect does not appear on channel 4 live programmes or other channels. appears to be confined to Location,Location,Location

Thanks
i seem to have corrected the problem by the following means:
I went to Settings then Picture then resolution and saw the term '576p' as the setting. I changed it to '1080p' and returned to Location etc and lo and behold, the picture was restored to full screen. No idea why and hope this new setting does not affect any other recordings.

All episodes of Location, Location, Location or just some? I've just looked at the latest episode on the Channel 4 app on my TV and there's no aspect ratio issue - it's full frame 16:9 as normal.
Give your puck a reboot to see if that helps. If not try refreshing the apps.

Strange that your puck was set to the old 576P SD output format.
1080i or 1080P will give you the correct native HD resolution. This will not affect any other recordings because Sky Stream doesn't record anything - it streams 1080i or 2160P content direct from Sky's servers or from other broadcasters' servers when a third party app is used.
Having your video output settings at 576P must have confused the puck as it was basically having to downscale the native 1080i stream to output it at the lower 576P resolution.
