Audio dropouts in Prime app

Anyone else get regular audio dropouts when watching on Prime app ... about 2 seconds before the adverts kick in there's a dropout on the main program dialogue - very annoying as it's usually during a key line just before an ad break ... then about 7 seconds before the ads finish there's another dropout ... I presume it's linked to the next-up video package each time but it's very frustrating and doesn't happen with any other of my streaming devices, eg Apple TV 4k ...

I am on the latest Sky Stream OS build and have refreshed the apps from the settings menu.

How does this get reported/resolved if it's an Amazon app on the Sky device ?

Anyone else get this ?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

I've also seen this but i very rarely get it during a show, normally the dropouts happen during the ads, which personally i don't mind one bit.

Re: Audio dropouts in Prime app

I only get this with the Prime app. 12 seconds before ads and also 12 seconds before ad finishes, there is a short silence of around half second. As you say, quite annoying. It's been like this since I've had Sky Stream - 2 years

Re: Audio dropouts in Prime app

I've seen this broad complaint on other tech too with Prime so I think it must be a problem on Amazon's side and I've experienced similar with a Fire stick before.

Also digital sounding voices on occasion for a few seconds.

It's quite a buggy platform from such a tech leader.

None of this helps you, of course, but I did wanted to add context that I think there's a chance that it's not a SkyOS issue.

Re: Audio dropouts in Prime app

Yes this happens to my stream puck also connected to a Denon X4800H and then the high speed hdmi lead going from the amp earc slot and into the LG Gallery tv's earc hdmi slot. We have also had issues with the lip sync being out of sync and very recently the audio was dropping out during a program and was silent for over a minute. To correct this i toggled up a channel and on going straight back the audio was there again. It's annoying as you replace the sky Q with the stream to get the HDR/HLG with Dolby atmos when enabled with having a cinema amp and ypu have thses issues it's not exactly what you sign up for. Iv'e heard on numerous occasions that sky are very aware of thses issues but don't seem to be to quick to fix them. We have only changed to the stream from later part of last year but unless Sky sort this before the contract comes to an end after being with them for 20 plus years we will walk away. Been in touch with sky and the last time the tech department and they had me old the power button on the puck for 3 seconds and then with the other hand pull the power lead out keeping finger depressed on the power button for a further 17 seconds which does a software update even though this is supposed to be automated and although it seems to have solved the syncing and audio drop out for more than 2 seconds when on Prime 12 seconds before the ads the sound drops for a second everytime still
