Add Plex to Sky OS

Our Amazon Fire Stick bricked itself other day, and thought we only now use it for Plex. Please add the Plex app to Sky OS. We have all our home videos on Plex and would be great if we could have everything we need in a single box.

@brenrich101  That's unlikely to happen, ever. Sky Glass/Stream is a streaming service not a media server.  You'll need to look at other options for plex.

No I know, I have a Synology NAS that I use for the server that all of our home movies/phone videos etc sit on, in libraries. It just occurred to me that the only thing we used the fire stick for was Plex (or Jellyfin) to play these. I'd just be cool if we could get these player apps on Sky OS 🙂

Think @brenrich101 is asking I expect about the Plex app to be made available to view content from their Plex home server and/or via the Plex free/account content on Sky Glass and Stream, rather than the Sky Stream/Glass device acting as a Plex server.

The app is available on on all my Smart TVs, Roku and Chromecast and available also from phone/tablets for casting.

Still, it would be up to Plex to work with Sky to offer the app on Sky Glass and Stream.

It is available on the Comcast Xumo/Xfinity boxes that are of the same spec as Sky Stream.

Plex would need to reach a commercial agreement with Sky, including how they would contribute towards Sky providing telephone support for the app.

The Sky subscription model means having a presence on Sky hardware is fundamentally different to being on other devices: any Sky subscriber can reasonably expect to phone a Sky contact centre for help with any on-board app
