Watching on Samsung tv
I rented a sky store movie recently because I brought the Asda £6 pizza meal deal. So I rented a movie but I have a Samsung tv and it hasn't got sky on it so can't get the app and if I go through the internet app on the tv it don't support watching the film. My son wants to watch the new spiderman film I finally got it for him and he can't watch it now. Is there any way for me to get it working. I don't have another tv or a laptop or computer. Hope someone can help
thank you
Chloe

Re: Watching on Samsung tv
Hi @Cjsmith44
Without an LG TV (and built in Skystore) and without a laptop - your only option which should work is if you have a Chromecast which you could plug in to your TV
(rentals, other than Premiere rentals usually cast OK)
Other than that - you may have to contact the Skystore team to explain the problem and ask if they might show some goodwill and allow you a credit

hope that helps

Re: Watching on Samsung tv
What device are you using to make your post here as you might be able to install the Sky Store app on it and watch the Spiderman film on it and you might also be able to watch the rented film as well.

Re: Watching on Samsung tv
I've done exactly the same thing... rented the film, downloaded the skystore app and accessed the film through my macbook and Samsung phone, both worked fine... until I wanted to use screen mirroring and it stopped playing. Tried using the Internet browser on the TV and it wouldn't allow streaming on there either.
Unless someone has found a way to do this, I feel it is a complete waste of time and money. Who wants to have a movie night watching it on a laptop or phone screen?!

Re: Watching on Samsung tv
Hi @David+moooo
As you have found - you can't mirror rented Sky movies (due to built in software protection)
Most of the non premiere rented movies can be casted with. Chromecast if you have one
Similarly you can usually use a laptop with an HDMI output and a cable to your TV (again not with premiere rentals )
but only LG TVs can host the Skystore app.
if you don't have one of these devices (or have a Sky box to rent on ) then renting from Sky probably isn't for you if you want to view on your TV
You might see if you can persuade the Skystore team to offer a goodwill refund if it's not suitable for you.
They open tomorrow at 11am- hope that helps

Re: Watching on Samsung tv
The other option in the limited range of devices supported by Sky is Roku streaming devices.
