If you rent a movie from your Sky box and watch even a second of it - you get charged
If you rent a movie online - you get charged as soon as you order it
from what you described - I guess that if you got a charge but only watched a tiny amount "by mistake" I guess you are asking for some goodwill from Sky rather than they have made an error
