i recently had a call from sky suggesting an up grade to my equipment from my present system that i had fir some time .. i agreed and a date was set for an engineer to call .. well he arrived and put in a new box . upgraded the wiring and st up a new remote ... he also informed ,me that a number of things had been added which i did not ask for such as multi room..i rank sky and they tell me that they will put it right and i will keep checking ..but we come to the main reason for my post .. i dont class this as an upgrade ..from my point of view ,,my needs are sinple .. as i have always told sky ..but since the engineer went away and took my old box with him. i have not used it at all .. they have taken it back 60 years not forward .. and i also notice that i cant get teletext which i use a lot to keep up with football results as the games are taking place ..i want it all putting back as it was or take everything away // ots no good to me and i wint pay for what i dont want ..the problem with everything today is that they dont think about the customer when they put these things together ... what siuts them may not suit me and i pay for it so i should choose not them .... its the old story .. CONTROL . the remote handset would have been laughed at in the sixties so it tells you a lot about what it feels like today .. your thoughts and helpful comments please .. i am a 1995 custimer but feel i wont be a 2024 custoner for long .. regards to all

This is what the BBC wanted to provide to everyone and changed Sky Q to their new service a lot of BBC viewers complained about the change and the BBC decided not to implement the change on other platforms but they have never changed Sky Q back to the old teletext system

Typically Sky won't now revert customers from Sky Q back to Sky+, which it sounds like was the 'upgrade' you received. If you are still within 30 days of Q being installed then it should be possible to cancel without penalty.

Your old Sky+ box should have been left for you to do with as you please because it remains your property. The engineer should have only taken it away if you asked them to. These old boxes still have a resale value on eBay as many people still like to use them.
It would be worthwhile speaking to Sky to see if they can resolve this in some way.

Unfortunately not everybody's idea of an upgrade is quite the same.
All too often customers like yourself are offered such an 'upgrade' from the now very ageing SKY +/HD system to SKY Q without being able to explain the differences and how it might fit with your usage.
I know it is too late for you now but to help customers decide I have compiled some notes which if you had managed to see before taking up the option I think you probably would not have gone ahead.
I wish some if not all the points I cover were spelt out to existing customers as I think those that still have SKY +/HD may be more likely to find the change difficult.
Anyway, unfortunately as @TimmyBGood says (& mentioned in my notes) SKY do not let customers revert back except in rare circumstances - although as mentioned they do usually let customers cancel SKY completely
I am sorry that you have found this out the hard way
BTW for me moving to SKY Q was an upgrade but I wanted to make use of the UHD & Atmos sound amongst other aspects - but I know it is not the same for many SKY +/HD customers

Find out moreUnless you have a 4k TV, value the vastly improved picture quality that brings, much better recording facility, integrated streaming platforms and on-demand content, it's hard to appreciate the upgrade that Q is. Some elements of it are clumsy.
The remote is ok although I do think the old one was a better design. Voice control is excellent.
